Though I ran from the pastorate for almost a quarter of my life, I am a fourth generation pastor in the United Methodist Church. I grew up in Northern Virginia and Richmond, then headed to Duke University to earn a BA in Psychology. In between college and graduate school I worked for 18 months at United Methodist Family Services in Richmond as a counselor with emotionally disturbed youth who were wards of the courts. God called me into the ministry in 1992, and I returned to Duke to complete my Master’s of Divinity degree.
Upon graduation from graduate school, Tim was appointed Associate/Co-pastor of Centreville UMC in Centreville, VA, where I served for eight years. In July 2003 I was appointed pastor of Wellspring UMC in Williamsburg and was appointed to serve Bonsack in July 2008.
My passions for ministry are found in worship leadership, visioning, leadership, and strategic planning, all of which are wrapped into a passion for connecting people with one another and Christ. I also enjoy focusing my creative energy through working with technology.
In 1994 I married Teresa, a farm girl from North Carolina, and we are the proud parents of Caleb, Joshua, and Anna. The rest of the house is filled by two dogs, Sadie and Chloe, and two zebra finches, Vanilla and Oreo (our children’s favorite ice cream flavors).
In my spare time I enjoy running, hiking, praying, reading, playing the Wii, Facebook, and exploring the environment around me. However, the most special times are spent with my family. |
